FF450 / SABA [TV (Standard)]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for FF450 / SABA.
List of fault symptoms:
- Set blocks (operation via RC or via user control only possible, after the set has been switched off and on again by mains switch.
- Protection circuit comes into force inappropriately. (service info for SABA -FF450)
- Failure to switch on from standby unless programme "UP" button is used.

- No STEREO reception on channel 60.
- Intermittent motorboating noise on sound.
- Unstable picture. in UHF. (FF450 SABA repair tip)
- No sound on NICAM sets.
- Starts up three times then switches off. (FF450 SABA repair tip)

- Appliance switches off sporadically and immediately starts again. After 3 times it can only be started by the mains switch. Fault occurs according to the picture content 2 to 20 times per day.
- Receives no HF signals. Tape switch over is not possible.
- U5 voltage incorrect.
- Programme indicator "1" flashes but will not tune. (FF450 tips)
- Terrestrial channel in the background of a satellite transmission.
- Variable sound and picture crackling with snow.

- Signal and sound are missing.
- Snowy picture. After 3 mins picture returns to normal.
- Sometimes the sound mutes.
- No switch on. When switching off with mains switch LED switches on then off. (service info for SABA -FF450)
- Display isn't synchronised and has black horizontal line on picture instead which disappears when pressing TV key on RC but comes back again.
- No blue just smeary.
- Switches off a few times each evening after replacing transformer. Intermittently switches on again after a while. Sometimes needs to be switched on again.
- Vertical rolling, will not lock with adjustment of the potentiometer.
- Popping noise at switch on. (Nicam model).
- TV deprogrammes, starts up again then remains in PAL. It is impossible to display S2 standard.
- Flyback rasters on screen. No picture, no sound. Display on the front is ok.
- Moire effect in the colour areas.

- Only rainbow colours (picture foldover).
- Does not store programmes.
- S2000 in power supply defective after a few mins.

- TV functions but the displays are erased after a few secs.
- Clicking on NICAM.

- Faulty TXT.

- Bright picture after 2 secs from start-up and no contrast. After 5 secs picture is OK.
- Random clicks with Nicam sound.

- No sound or picture. Scanning not very apparent, greenish, flyback lines. Functions occasionally in scart. (FF450 tip from SABA)
- No power supply and the stand-by light is lit on.
- No sound, no picture. Weak brightness. Flyback lines if G2 pushed. No functions from TV front panel.
- Brightness varies until there is a dark picture.
- Switches off then starts up again, mostly when cold. When TV works, sound mute and background noise, but sound reappears at channel switch over.
- Colour bleeding.
- Poor channel reception and channels 59 and 62 are replaced by snow. Occasionally reception is correct.

- Colour cuts out occasionally.
- Teletext moves vertically. Appliance functions very well when Teletext is not displayed.
- No picture. Loss of 1 or more colours.
- Green picture.
- No or slight sound on the right and/or left tracks.

- Power supply switches off.

- ICC7 chassis. N/S correction does not function properly. Initially no function.

- Rolling colours and white lines.
- Four vertical lines in upper picture area.

- When switching on snow with moiré on all stations. It seems as if the stations are way out. After running for a short time picture is ok.
- Appliance switches over between VHF and UHF, instead only noise in the picture.

- LED characters are displayed back to front.
- Black screen. All the voltages are correct. The sound, line transformer and the G2 are ok but the screen remains black.
- Stuck in standby when switched off into standby using RC.
- No 22V line but ok when DP43 removed.
- Very faint and bright picture via tuner. Picture ok via scart via a VCR.

- There is 145V instead of 170V and there is too much L/T amplitude.
- Shade gradually becomes purplish. Ok at start up. Degaussing ok.

- No sound. TV cuts out after 10 minutes. Sound board OK.
- 1Khz tone breaking onto NICAM sound. OK in mono mode.

- Black box appears instead of clock on channel change or when adjusting volume on IMC models.
- Dead. LED blinks .
- Display flashes in STAND BY and the TV does not start up, even with the RCU. Occasionally it starts up when you activate P and VOL, and press On/Off several times.

- The picture goes wrong all the time in the vertical direction. A black band appears at the bottom. The capacitors at the level of the raster IC are ok. Solder joints have been redone.

- No clock signal in 14 of the IV21. No Y signal in 41 of the IV21 and no light.
- Poor reception. Pieces of OSD appear erratically on display. No menu display.
- No TXT. Command is received but not carried out. Picture does not turn black.

- Accepts channel number but will not tune.

- Sound is very distorted on both channels when cold like when warm. All the other functions are normal.

- Sound only at maximum volume.

- Sound interruption and/or crackling.
- Distorted sound, balance off centre, supersound and NICAM defective.
- Poor picture and sound synchronisation. Moire effect on the picture. Occasionally there is no sound or picture.

- Vertical lines pulling at the top of the picture.
- At switch on, after 15 secs, dark screen with a few horizontal white lines between the middle and top of screen. Picture returns with geometry fault, if PG08 is turned. Sound ok. (SABA - FF450 information)
- Switching transistor TP24 fails repeatedly.
- No picture. Centre section of white line just visible at top centre of screen. (picture attached)
- Intermittent field collapse. Bright flyback lines rolling at centre of screen 3ins high. (picture attached)

- Intermittent fault. The TV stops and even the standby light has gone out. Starts up again by itself.

- Does not always start up. Standby light flashes. Loses memory.
- No raster deflection. No picture, only vague light in background. Looks like coloured spot at bottom of picture. No start up.
- Bright screen for short period of time, after this just snow confusion and crackling noises in sound.
