FF470 / SABA [TV (Standard)]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for FF470 / SABA.
List of fault symptoms:
- Volume changes by itself or sound is distorted.
- Crackling, occasionally squealing after operating for approximately 20 mins.
- After deprogramming, followed by a reprogramming, TV functions but the channels have each increased by 9 units. Eg.: 2nd channel is 49 instead of 40. Hence it is impossible to receive channel 62.
- Type of memory battery. (picture attached)
- TV functions but the displays are erased after a few secs.
- Channel raster has shifted by two or more channels. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- The display indicates 88.
- Impossible to select bands. Tuner UHF OK. OK via scart. Signal present. (service info for SABA -FF470)
- Weak blue until the brightness is turned up, but then blue flares. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Does not switch on and no standby.

- No signal.

- Weak UHF and VHF reception.
- No EHT or power supply when switched on. 7V=6.3V.
- After operating for a few minutes, channels 59 and 62 disappear: picture is replaced by snow. (FF470 tips)
- Storage battery explodes HD404918 A08
- Very poor colour. Looks like indent fault.
- When increasing contrast or on bright video scenes, chroma disappears and 1 or 2 vertical fine black lines appear on left of screen.

- Top half of picture has squiggling verticals which alter with field shift/height. Picture may blank out with coloured lines dependent upon vertical shift position, accompanied by rasping noise from PSU!

- Trips 3 times.
- The appliance switches to BG standard.

- Picture is very dark. Picture is visible only by the predominant areas of red and blue.
- No standard switch over. No SECAM.
- No sound and occasionally the mute function is activated.
- Sometimes CTV starts up and functions. When the CTV is functioning, it stops then starts up again all by itself.
- HT value.
- Disable electronic lock.

- Line output transistor fails repeatedly. at start-up.

- After changing the CRT base, there is HT flashover which appears as crackling sound and flickering picture.

- Intermittent loss of raster at switch on with white lines at the top. Flyback raster when acting on PG08 or when going to AV.
- The brightness control display may switch off.
- Occasional tuning drift and breakup of picture.
- No horizontal deflection.
- Occasionally memorized data of control unit processor is lost at switch on or switch off with mains switch.
- Channel display does not correspond to the channels received. eg. displays CH52 when 43 is received.
- No vertical deflection. intermittently.

- Channel indication flashing 1, will not tune or adjust.
- Deprogramming due to static loads.
- How to disable key code.
- Intermittent switch between programme 1 and AUX.
- Occasionally memorized data of control unit processor is lost at switch on or switch off with mains switch.
- Switches off then starts up again, mostly when cold. When TV works, sound mute and background noise, but sound reappears at channel switch over.
- SAT switch over is defective.
- No sound. No picture. No OSD. Only purity spots.
- No OSG, (on screen graphics). Although no OSG, picture functions can still be altered.
- Goes into safety 3 times.
- RP42 blowing. (picture attached)

- Loud noises from speaker (at switch-off).
- Intermittent motorboating noise on sound.
- TP24, TP16, TP19, TP11 and fuse blow. TL31 ok.
- No switch on. When switching off with mains switch LED switches on then off.

- Terrestrial channel in the background of a satellite transmission.

- No standby light when put into standby and impossible to start up again, except when starting up from the control panel.
- Picture detuned on all channels.
- Appliance switches over between VHF and UHF, instead only noise in the picture.

- Display flashes and turns dark. Channel displayed but cannot be adjusted. RC OK.
- No picture. No audio (intermittently).

- No UHF channels. when cold.

- Picture is almost dark, colours are weak and the Y-signal is too weak.

- Accepts tuning channel number but does not alter tuning.

- VHF band 1 fails occasionally. Snow and sizzling in the sound. Band 3 and high channels are ok.
- No sound or picture. Teletext functions. Static discharge. New appliance.

- Contrast is low in text mode, TV and mix modes are ok.
- Will not go into standby cleanly when hot, it will pulse between standby and on 5/6 times before finally staying in standby.
- VCR problems.

- Reduced vertical deflection.
- No audio.
- V2 voltage.

- VHF is ok, no UHF or very little.

- TXT functions for only 2 secs on high VHF. Functions OK on low VHF low and S channels.
- Loss of memory when you switch off the TV and in standby you need to be 5cm from the TV to start it up again despite the TV operating well. Battery is ok.
- Horizontal lines.
- Shifts 8 channels after being put back into service mode.
- Only white noise, channel LEDs do not light up.
- No 22V line but ok when DP43 removed.

- Switches to protection mode. intermittently.

- No V1, V2 or VS supplies.
- No sound or picture. Dark screen. FBT functions. Filament tube is lit up. In scart with a VCR normal sound but no picture. Raster appears faintly when the TV is switched off then switched on again immediately.
- No start up of PSU. 300V present.
- No tuning (after a few minutes).
- Intermittent crackling in the picture (horizontal black lines).

- The sound disappears when the appliance is warm.
- No SECAM. Only PAL, even adjusting it to SECAM F. Remains in PAL. OK via scart.
- In safety mode after working for a long time appliance trips then stops. Display off.
- PSU fails in various conditions.

- Intense patterning on picture, silvering effect on all white areas.

- Intermittent tripping, display ok. Possible start up again via On/Off switch.
- Failure to change channels, no memory of channel data.
- White screen with flyback lines. Beam current limiter fault G2. A450VT has already been adjusted.
- Does not switch standards, remains in PAL.
- Picture from the bottom to the middle of the screen. Not possible to adjust the vertical amplification. Black screen to the middle of the screen then picture from the middle to the bottom of the screen.
- Unstable picture. in UHF. (FF470 SABA repair tip)

- Power supply switches off, breaker circuit doesn't start up even with continuous attempts to start up.
- Channel 60 and high channels flicker. U6 (30V) is low. (picture attached)

- After two-three hours the sound crackles very loudly. Model (51K5) Nicam . (FF470 SABA repair tip)
- Shuts down. after start-up.
- No HV (intermittently).
- When switching on snow with moiré on all stations. It seems as if the stations are way out. After running for a short time picture is ok.
- Replacement of the diode split transformer in old chassis ICC5 and new chassis ICC5-01.
- All programme numbers tuned to the same channel.
- Rolling colours and white lines.

- Interchangeability of teletext boards between chassis ICC5 and ICC5.01.
- Picture appears after 1.5 mins when cold and after 25 mins when warm (picture attached)
- ICC7 chassis. N/S correction does not function properly. Initially no function.
- Mains transistor TP24 (S2000AF) blown straight after being turned on.
- No tuning of channels. Switching programmes OK, but when channel is pressed, channel does not flash.
- Line output transistor fails repeatedly.
- Random flashing of lines on screen.
- After changing transformer LP03 burns. TL31 disconnected, 7V on DP37 and 145V on DP41 OK. BU508AT5 has been replaced by BU508A but fault still persists.

- Channel numbers cannot be entered.

- Power supply does not start up. No standby. 5V present. IR01 is ok. TEA2029 is ok. No oscillation on the primary circuit.
- No colour (via SCART).
- No tape-end shut off, changing IT20 and IR01 does not cure the problem, no reception on all channels only white shimmer.

- In the picture appear black lines similar to lightning. Fault is not visible via scart.
- No colour when cold.
- NICAM sound crackles and is distorted.
- Dead. LED blinks .
- Blurred colour blobs on screen.

- No channel storing.
- Cables to be connected on the vertical deflector.
- Programming impossible but responds in SERVICE mode.
- Intermittent colour.
- Occasionally memorized data of control unit processor is lost at switch on or switch off with mains switch.
- Crackling audio. intermittently.
- No channel tuning in search mode.
- Vertical roll. (picture attached)
- 1Khz tone breaking onto NICAM sound. OK in mono mode.
- Nicam is intermittent.
- Sound OK on Canal Plus. No luminance when using decoder.

- No signal.
- Switches to protection mode. after start-up.
- Hiss in audio.
- Loud noises from speaker (at switch-off).

- Only the green LED on.

- Video disappears and comes back after a few seconds. Sound present.
