FF480 / SABA [TV (Standard)]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for FF480 / SABA.

List of fault symptoms:
  • Intermittent crackling in the picture (horizontal black lines).
  • Service info: Contrast- and beam current adjustment after replacing chroma video module.

  • Intermittent colour.
  • No audio.

  • Fuse and power supply transistor defective.

  • Only rainbow effect (picture foldover).
  • Appliance blocks in PAL. Operates in video cassette and channel. Telecom display is abnormal. L equals sound, H equals light and F equals colour.

  • Off-air luminance is missing, text is ok.
  • Popping noise from speakers at switch on.
  • Loss of memory. All program sites on C00.

  • Flyback rasters on screen. No picture, no sound. Display on the front is ok.
  • Power supply does not start up. No standby. 5V present. IR01 is ok. TEA2029 is ok. No oscillation on the primary circuit.
  • Occasionally the picture is red with flyback lines. (FF480 tips)
  • Programme indicator "1" flashes but will not tune.

  • Replacement of the diode split transformer in old chassis ICC5 and new chassis ICC5-01.

  • How to disable key code.
  • Power supply shuts down. Line drive pulls HT down.

  • Horizontal lines.

  • No audio.
  • Low gain.
  • Sound pulsing off and on Nicam lights flashing.

  • TL17 shorts at start up.
  • No picture (after a few minutes).
  • Occasionally memorized data of control unit processor is lost at switch on or switch off with mains switch.

  • Poor quality sound in FM, ok in AM.
  • Noisy sound on both channels (dependent on the volume setting).

  • Intermittently no adjustment of sound with RC. RC OK. IR receiver OK.

  • No HT supplies from DP41, DP37 and DP32. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • TV does not start up. Power supply does not decouple.
  • Fuse FP05 (1.6A) blows sporadically without any obvious reason after an extended running time (approx 1-2 months). After replacing appliance runs perfectly again.
  • No scanning. When appliance is switched on green bars then they disappear. FBT is ok. Function is ok.
  • Ticking noise on sound with intermittent mute.
  • No sound or picture. No digits lit on display except STEREO and STEREO S2 lit.

  • No picture only on 3 channels (eg. nothing on 1, 3 and 6 but picture on 2 and 5) after warming up for 10 mins. This problem disturbs other TVs plugged into the same aerial. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Loss of memory when you switch off the TV and in standby you need to be 5cm from the TV to start it up again despite the TV operating well. Battery is ok.
  • HT value.
  • Switches off then starts up again, mostly when cold. When TV works, sound mute and background noise, but sound reappears at channel switch over.

  • Standby LED flashing in standby mode.
  • No horizontal amplification.
  • Intermittently unlocked colour.

  • Poor Teletext page number.
  • Rolling colours and white lines.

  • After changing transformer LP03 burns. TL31 disconnected, 7V on DP37 and 145V on DP41 OK. BU508AT5 has been replaced by BU508A but fault still persists.

  • No TXT, although control shows appliance is in TXT.

  • Programming impossible but responds in SERVICE mode.
  • Weak UHF and VHF reception.

  • No synchronisation (intermittently).

  • Only colour info visible. No Y signal.

  • Bright picture. Flyback lines.

  • The appliance switches to BG standard.

  • With audio module black picture with unstable green bars. Without an audio module snowy picture but no reception.
  • Intermittently blocks in AV. The channels remain displayed on the display.
  • Black screen. All the voltages are correct. The sound, line transformer and the G2 are ok but the screen remains black.
  • No picture content. After switching on bright picture with colour flecks, same picture without HF signal. Sound OK.
  • Dead. LED blinks .
  • Channel raster has shifted by two or more channels. (picture attached)
  • Colour flashing in and out.
  • Random clicks with Nicam sound. (FF480 tip from SABA)
  • No Y-picture or colour. (FF480 SABA repair tip)

  • Poor colour.

  • After changing the CRT base, there is HT flashover which appears as crackling sound and flickering picture.
  • Picture geometry problems.

  • Intermittent colour.
  • No or low start-up volts at IL14.

  • PSU starts up 1 time out of 10. At switch off, green dot lights up and then goes out.

  • Vertical rolling, will not lock with adjustment of the potentiometer.

  • There is a moire effect on the screen for a short while and no sound.
  • Black, green, pink, blue screen after start-up for 1 min, then goes to normal.

  • There is 145V instead of 170V and there is too much L/T amplitude.

  • Mains transistor TP24 (S2000AF) blown straight after being turned on.
  • Anomaly due to built in switch.

  • Loss of channel 1.
  • Intermittent audio.
  • White screen, no picture. At start up displays 1 and after 5 secs 88, no function possible 5V OK, 20V OK.
  • Occasionally memorized data of control unit processor is lost at switch on or switch off with mains switch.

  • Low FM sound. High background noise.
  • No picture. via tuner.
  • No channel storing.

  • The very high tension is intermittent.

  • After deprogramming, followed by a reprogramming, TV functions but the channels have each increased by 9 units. Eg.: 2nd channel is 49 instead of 40. Hence it is impossible to receive channel 62.
