FF510 / SABA [TV (Standard)]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for FF510 / SABA.
List of fault symptoms:
- Reduced vertical and horizontal size.
- No OSG, (on screen graphics). Although no OSG, picture functions can still be altered.
- Replacement of uP HD 404019 A05. (service info for SABA -FF510)
- Power supply switches off for a short time (hiccup) when channel is switched over.
- Only 1/4 inch of picture at left hand side. Remainder of picture blank. (SABA - FF510 information)
- Picture reduced to the top half of the screen with a linearity fault. Light pulsates and flyback raster on some lighter pictures. Scanning returns to normal occasionally when changing channels. (picture attached)
- Empty lines in top part of picture.
- No brightness.
- Black screen. All the voltages are correct. The sound, line transformer and the G2 are ok but the screen remains black.

- Standard does not change. Channel search is ok.
- Picture jitters.
- Line BU blows after some time.

- Rolling coloured and white lines. (picture attached)

- Picture from the bottom to the middle of the screen. Not possible to adjust the vertical amplification. Black screen to the middle of the screen then picture from the middle to the bottom of the screen.
- Loss of sync on teletext. Mix teletext/picture ok.

- Occasionally the picture is red with flyback lines.
- No picture, sound o.k. High voltage and power supply in good order.
- Intermittent large noise bands. Picture OK via SCART socket.

- TXT functions for only 2 secs on high VHF. Functions OK on low VHF low and S channels.
- Intermittent tripping, display ok. Possible start up again via On/Off switch.
- Drifts at switch on after 2 mins.
- Green screen.
- No audio.
- After an hour dark screen, no sound, display is correct. The display remains on the channel selected then a moment afterwards goes into standby.

- No colour, no brightness. Only one colour on TXT or certain colours are missing.

- In cold state of the television receiver, the thyristor DL21 (ESM740G) in the vertical stage may not switch on.

- Sound from right channel is missing.
- Dark picture with 3 RGB lines. Sound available.
- Pop at switch on.

- No tuning of channels. Switching programmes OK, but when channel is pressed, channel does not flash.
- No blue just smeary.

- Set blocks (operation via RC or via user control only possible, after the set has been switched off and on again by mains switch.

- Ticking noise on sound and intermittent sound mute.

- Colour picture via the tuner, black and white in scart.
- No LL' switching when you press C of the remote control.
- Sometimes the sound mutes.

- After 5 mins stations disappear. Wrong characters with the volume OSD. Colours and size change.
- Poor picture and sound synchronisation. Moire effect on the picture. Occasionally there is no sound or picture.
- Very poor colour. Looks like indent fault.
- 3 to 4 pulses of line transformer then nothing.
- After operating for 5 mins in black and white, it loses G2 and turns mauve.
- At start up, time base and EHT for a moment then cuts out. No standby light on.

- The power supply blocks.

- TP24 gets hot and short circuits. Poor base command.

- The picture goes wrong all the time in the vertical direction. A black band appears at the bottom. The capacitors at the level of the raster IC are ok. Solder joints have been redone.
- Colour bleeding.
- Intermittent fault. The TV stops and even the standby light has gone out. Starts up again by itself.
- Poor chrominance of black/white with colour at zero.
- Line transformer does not start up.

- No TXT (intermittently).

- Replaced small transformer which was burning but TV remains in standby and FBT crackles for 5-6 secs then nothing.

- When increasing contrast or on bright video scenes, chroma disappears and 1 or 2 vertical fine black lines appear on left of screen.
- Intermittently switches off ten consecutive times or just once. Mostly switches on again automatically. No LEDs lit when switching off.
- Sound reduction. It sometimes returns when changing channels.
- No picture, white screen and there is an erasing problem after one hour.

- After two-three hours the sound crackles very loudly. Model (51K5) Nicam .

- Rainbow on the screen.

- When cold trips 3 times with crackling in the speaker, then safety mode. When warm trips then starts up. (picture attached)
- Poor channel reception and channels 59 and 62 are replaced by snow. Occasionally reception is correct.
- No HF signals received. Band switch over is not possible.
- No sound or picture. Dark screen. In scart with a VCR, normal sound but no picture. Raster appears faintly when the TV is switched off then switched on again immediately.
- Teletext displays page 100 only.
- Only rainbow effect (picture foldover).
- Appliance switches off sporadically and immediately starts again. After 3 times it can only be started by the mains switch. Fault occurs according to the picture content 2 to 20 times per day.

- At switch on, raster linearity fault for 1-2 minutes.
- Ticking noise on sound with intermittent mute.
- TV just displays LOCK.

- Terrestrial channel in the background of a satellite transmission.

- At switch on, goes into standby and impossible to get out of it. After 5 mins, appliance starts up by itself and functions well. If stopped for a few secs, it works normally.
