FREIBURG 0000FF418 / SABA [TV (Standard)]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for FREIBURG / SABA.
List of fault symptoms:
- Negative picture, striped and running through in UHF. OK in VHF.
- Red raster. Flyback lines. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- TV goes off and switches on again three times then goes into safety mode.
- No picture appears in PAL.
- Set blocks (operation via RC or via user control only possible, after the set has been switched off and on again by mains switch.
- In cold state of the television receiver, the thyristor DL21 (ESM740G) in the vertical stage may not switch on. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No picture. A flyback is apparent when you increase the G2. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Switches off then starts up again, mostly when cold. When TV works, sound mute and background noise, but sound reappears at channel switch over.
- Vertical deflection. Rotating lines in the lower third of the picture.
- Only rainbow effect (picture foldover).
- After replacing IV21, picture is too wide. Slight geometry fault. (FREIBURG tip from SABA)
- Hiss in audio.
- Power supply does not start up. No standby. 5V present. IR01 is ok. TEA2029 is ok. No oscillation on the primary circuit.

- No NICAM sound, normal sound ok.
- When cold trips 3 times with crackling in the speaker, then safety mode. When warm trips then starts up. (picture attached)
- Channel tuning number does not correspond to the frequency required. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- No tuning, OSD or TXT.
- When going into standby with RC, impossible to start operating again with the RC and light flashes after a few moments. (picture attached)
- Mains transistor TP24 (S2000AF) blown straight after being turned on.
- No switch on. When switching off with mains switch LED switches on then off.
- The TV locks in low range frequency. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Blurred colour blobs on screen.
- Low FM sound. High background noise.
- The picture amplitude is too small. The whole of the picture is recorded in the lower half of the screen.
- Intermittent colour when setting picture geometry.
- No stereo reception on channel 60.

- Standard does not change. Channel search is ok.
- Channel raster has shifted by two or more channels. (with circuit diagram extract)
- NS pincushion distortion. More at the bottom than at the top.
- Channel raster has shifted by two or more channels.
- At switch on, focus pot arcing and igniting. CRT board and tube ventiduct disconnected but fault persists.
- Sharp picture but negative and pale. Service mode OK.
- Dark screen dark with vertical bright flyback lines. Picture suddenly appears leaving 2" band at top. (picture attached)

- VCR problems.

- Appliance has no HF reception. Snowy picture.
- Power supply doesn't start up.

- Monochrome picture when AUX selected on IMC receiver.
- Drifts at switch on after 2 mins. (service info for SABA -FREIBURG)
- Volume changes by itself or distorted sound.

- Switches to protection mode. after start-up.
- No picture, picture appears after each channel change then disappears a few seconds later. Sound ok. (with circuit diagram extract)

- Accepts tuning channel number but does not alter tuning.
- RC part number.

- After deprogramming, followed by a reprogramming, TV functions but the channels have each increased by 9 units. Eg.: 2nd channel is 49 instead of 40. Hence it is impossible to receive channel 62.
- All adjustments at zero (brightness, colour, contrast). Channels are also at zero. Adjustments can be made at 50 but they are lost during standby or ON/OFF. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

- RP42 blowing. (picture attached)
- RV82 (10R) on tube board blows repeatedly.
- No picture and no direct display of the channel possible. Picture shifts.

- No sound or picture. Scanning not very apparent, greenish, flyback lines. Functions occasionally in scart.

- Loss of memory when you switch off the TV and in standby you need to be 5cm from the TV to start it up again despite the TV operating well. Battery is ok.
- No picture. There is a white raster on the right of the screen.

- Volume changes by itself or sound is distorted.
- Channel raster has shifted by two or more channels.

- Very faint and bright picture via tuner. Picture ok via scart via a VCR.

- No EHT or power supply when switched on. 7V=6.3V.

- After an hour dark screen, no sound, display is correct. The display remains on the channel selected then a moment afterwards goes into standby.
- Audible whistling from the back of the cabinet.
- Poor reception. in UHF. Hum in audio.

- Line output transistor fails repeatedly.

- Appliance has no HF reception. Snowy picture.
- The picture moves out of its frame when the appliance is warm.

- Poor base command. TL31 at -0.4V instead of -0.8V, correct format.
- Red coloured spot at the bottom left of the screen.

- Replacement of the diode split transformer in old chassis ICC5 and new chassis ICC5-01.
- Occasionally the picture is red with flyback lines.
- The appliance does not work with the remote control, but requests from the appliance are accepted.
- No correct reading on the display.
- No reception or sound. Brightness is OK.
- The video fails with the decoder syster. No problem with the old decoder.

- No picture content. After switching on bright picture with colour flecks, same picture without HF signal. Sound OK.
- ICC7 chassis. N/S correction does not function properly. Initially no function.

- Display flashes in STAND BY and the TV does not start up, even with the RCU. Occasionally it starts up when you activate P and VOL, and press On/Off several times.

- All rails are very low, 3V on 158V (158 reads 500 Ohm).
- Picture white out.

- No horizontal deflection.
- No horizontal deflection (intermittently).
- Does not switch standards, remains in PAL.

- Poor chrominance of black/white with colour at zero.

- The picture goes wrong all the time in the vertical direction. A black band appears at the bottom. The capacitors at the level of the raster IC are ok. Solder joints have been redone.
- In safety mode there is no high level on the Ger. point if the disconnection of the line raster deflector and power supply is correct.
