CX5013 / SAMSUNG [TV 55 (51) cm picture]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for CX5013 / SAMSUNG.
List of fault symptoms:
- Volume control at max.
- Non-linear field scan. Cramped at bottom and stretched at top.
- Picture too wide, then switches to standby.
- Attempts to start up, a whistle can be heard, but does not switch on.
- No power up from cold.
- Signs of a burn up in the line output stage.
- Blank screen. No TXT. intermittently.
- Weak contrast.
- Top linearity is defective.
- Picture linearity fault, picture shifted at top and stretched at bottom.
- Set shuts down intermittently. Eventually standby light just pulses on & then off. Set will not come on.
- Channel numbers on front control panel light up.
- White raster with flyback lines when first switched on.
- White screen.
- Ragged verticals, intermittent.
- Picture blanks, sound ok and text ok.
- No picture, only OSD available.
- Failure of Q402.
- Vertical collapse.
- Raster is white and blank, sound is missing.
- At switch on standby LED is lit for few seconds then goes off.
- Poor luminance.
- Reduced vertical size.
- Comes on in standby mode.
- Audio hum, buzz. Intercarrier hum on stations at the upper end of the band.
- Excessive HV.
- Blue screen. Flyback lines.
- No video or luma overload when using Amiga.
- No start-up.
- No standby. No start up.
- Not switching between CVBS and AV mode.
- Audio mute and intermittent channel.
- Blank raster. No audio. No front panel function. No RC functions. (service info for SAMSUNG -CX5013)
- Vertical foldover in cold conditions. After warming up, it corrects by itself.
- Ticking noise. Tripping.
- No TXT.
- Smoked then dead.
- Reduced vertical size and compressed at bottom.
- Stuck in standby. (SAMSUNG - CX5013 information)
- In soak mode the following resistors change their value.
- When power is turned on makes a squealing noise and the LED goes out.
- Repeated failure of Q402.
- Reduced contrast and brightness.
- No picture. Audio OK .
- No functions. Squealing from PSU.
- Screen only lights up intermittently.
- Defect in the horizontal linearity stage.
- Needs to be degaussed quite often.
- Dead or goes dead.
- Picture is too big with occasional arcing. HT is high.
- Only noise. No station tuning.
- Does not switch to standby.
- Randomly the picture blanks, leaving sound and a dark raster. Pressing the text button brings up a text display, then pressing the return to TV button restores the picture.
- Picture too big.
- No start-up. Standby LED does not light.
- Line frequency is too high.
- Deflection collapses. (service info for SAMSUNG -CX5013)
- No response to RC station commands.
- No picture. via AV. Audio OK .
- No picture. No audio. Standby LED flashes .
- Searches for channels continuously.
- Mains fuse (3.15A) or surge limiter resistor R601 (5R6/7.5W) O/C.
- Intermittently stops. after warm-up.
- White picture with flyback lines. (CX5013 tips)
- No RC functions.
- Audio interference at switch over and scene change despite adjusting the volume.
- No start-up. Standby LED flashes .
- Reduced horizontal size. Burning smell.
- Appliance will not produce signals (tuning voltages shows that it swept, but no station is found).
- Standby light flashes once when turned on, otherwise dead. PSU makes low twittering sounds. Can also be intermittent no go, with twittering sounds coming from psu when in standby.
- Transistor Q402 fails (no high voltage).
- Chirping. at start-up.
- Black screen.
- Appliance is dead or trips, standby LED does not light up.
- Dark picture.
- Chopper transistor hisses in standby.
- Image has normal brightness only after 2 minutes after turning on.
- Red flyback lines in picture.
- PSU tripping or volts low.
- Crackling audio.
- Dry joints.
- Frame collapse of approx. 1.5".
- With some appliances AGC distortion occurs in lower range of VHF band.
- No picture or sound in TV mode. AV mode ok.
- PSU whistles. Shuts down.
- HT is too high.
- Bright picture. Flyback lines.
- Horizontal output transistor Q402 (2SD1651) becomes defective after short operation.
- Arcing inside PSU.
- Intermittent luma/chroma faults. (CX5013 SAMSUNG repair tip)
- Switches back to channel 1 instantly when trying to change channel, then no function and no standby indicator.
- Whitish screen. Sound and OSD OK.
- Attempts to start up. Noise from PSU.
- Intermittently impossible to switch on, especially when warm. Standby LED only lights up after trying to switch on for a while.
- No colour.
- Chirping PSU that switches off. No standby light.
- Trips. after a few seconds.
- Appliance does not switch between the TV- and AV mode.
- When switched off, makes squelching noise and LED goes out.
- Intermittently picture blanks. Sound OK. TXT OK. Picture comes back after TXT selected.

- No picture.
- No power up, just strange noise from power supply.
- At random intervals picture blanks leaving sound and a dark raster.
- Blank raster. intermittently. Flyback lines.
- Shuts down. intermittently.
- No picture brightness/control of the video amplifier when connecting an Amiga computer.
- PSU chirps. at start-up.
- Blank raster. Flyback lines.
- Vertical foldover at top.
- Dead or intermittently dead.
- Arcing. Dead. after a few seconds.
- Dead.
