3703 / SBR [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for 3703 / SBR.
List of fault symptoms:
- A strange noise is audible only in the first few mins of operation.
- No picture, just noise.
- Output available, but no reaction to RC.
- Contents of memory lost.
- Defective transistor TS7355. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Replacing the programme selector unit. (3703 tip from SBR)
- Appliance trips when cold.
- Protection circuit active (set hiccups).
- Contrast is weak on TV, picture is missing when mixed and teletext is ok.

- Screen is dark. Loud noise.
- No picture. White raster.
- The sound density is instable.
- Loss of sound. Also loss of picture and/or hiccups. Intermittent fault.
- No picture, eht and focus supplies present.
- Resistor 3170 burned o/c. No audio TDA2611AQ destroyed. If IC and resistor is replaced, will destruct in minutes.
- No colour and appears to have unresolvable grey-scale tracking errors.
- No picture, sound OK.
- Flyback line on top of screen.
- Poor focus.
- Dead due to a lightning strike.
- Supply voltage +125V adjustment.
- Picture jitter and "motor-boating" sound. (3703 tip from SBR)
- Blank raster.
- Power supply will not start.
- No contrast.
- During station search the tuning does not stop when a station has been found (continuous searching).
- Upper TXT line doesn't show hour, only page number.
- Intermittent.
- Jagged verticals.
- Unstable tuning.
- Teletext lines visible at top of picture.
- No remote control or front keyboard functions.
- Unstable picture with appliance ticking.
- (Pg 1 of 2) Dead.
- Code numbers for locking HT and focus cable.
- Set ticks with monentary loss of picture and sound.
- No or low luminance, low contrast and very poor picture.
- No UHF reception. VHF reception OK.
- Patterning on colour.
- Intermittent frame linearity or low height. (SBR - 3703 information)
- Greyscale adjustment.
- CRT cut-off adjustment. (3703 SBR repair tip)
- Vertical collapse.
- TR7562 (BU508AF) S/C.
- No start-up.
- Dull white picture.
- No picture.
- How to change and store analogie values (normal values/basic values).
- Picture darkens intermittently.
- Hum noise on VCR channel.
- Dead. LED blinks once.
- Will not tune on some channels.
- No picture during muting, the sound is present.
- Coloured patterning.
- No or low luminance, low contrast, very poor picture.

- Replacement of tuner ECL2006 with UV418.
- Tuning of cut-off points on picture tubes.
- Forgotten resistor can destroy transistor TS7355.
- Interference stripes.
- Power supply voltages are too high.
- No noise and no contrast.
- PSU transistor and horizontal output transistor are S/C immediately after start-up.
- Picture pulls in play.
- Picture has wide horizontal bands which can be intermittent.
- Line output transistor TR7562 repeatedly fails.
- Coil 5355 jumps immediately after the set has been turned on.

- Occasionally colour drop out.
- The appliance is tripping.

- Picture intermittently moves up and down.

- No signal.
- Programme selector switch assembly.
- No raster. Distorted audio.
- Colour is too red, green or blue and shows flyback lines.
- Sometimes fails to come on plus when no memory.
- Interlace is poor and part of picture is missing.
- Interference lines with colour picture (especially on UHF). The black/white picture is fine. (3703 tips)
- Switches to standby (intermittently).
- Noise in picture and sound. No response to signals such as channel search. Battery OK.
- PAL delay line.
- No remote control or front keyboard functions.
- Contrast is poor.
- Intermittently picture and sound are missing.
- Frame flyback lines run down half of the picture.
- No TXT.
- Contents of memory lost.
- EHT cable may cause HT flashover.
- The operation voltage is too high when plugged in.
- Line pulling, unstable on VCR PB.
- Line tearing.
- Reduced picture. Intermittent clicking.
- The power supply does not work correctly, the 125V is too low.
- The picture does not stand still.
- Does not stop in search tune mode.
- The sound gurgles and squeaks.
- Picture and raster are missing. Loud hum from speaker.
- Dead, standby lamp is on.
- No search stop.
- Drift and incorrect tuning.
- Intermittent no channel lid's and snowy picture.
- Intermittent wide horizontal bands over picture.
- Intermittent loss of stations and LED display.
- After switch on appliance functions perfectly for only 1-2 mins then sound disappears. Brightness is too low. Current consumption is too high. (3703 tip from SBR)
- The appliance fails.
- The TV cannot be switched on.
- Lack of width, low contrast and rolling.
- Poor picture quality and/or ghosts.
- The picture is distorted, more or less depending on the station tuned in to. (Audio signal).
- Loss of line sync.
- E/W disappears now and then.
- If the picture is too bright it rolls.
- Faulty colours during teletext.
- Horizontal synchronization adjustment.
- Picture blanking at top.
- No vertical deflection.
- Sub carrier oscillator adjustment. (3703 tips)
- No picture (intermittently).
- No sound or vision.
- (Pg 2 of 2) Dead.
- Dead. T2A o/c.
- Rolling when brightness or contrast is varied.
- Low 12V line. Checked diode for S/C but found normal.
- Brightness, colour and VOL incorrect or goes to minimum level at switch on.
- S/c at pin 12 of the line output transformer.
- Tripping.
- Failure of T7355.
- Moire effect in colour.
- No picture and sounds like a radio.
- Lines in picture.
- Reduced vertical and horizontal size.
- Insufficient width with bowing at the right-hand side. (3703 SBR repair tip)
- Vertical stripes in the left picture side in case of poor aerial signal.
- Poor picture.
- No vertical synchronization.
- µP 7660 does not function, control is dead.
- Vertical jitter.
- Appliance will not switch on after water has seeped in. (3703 tip from SBR)
- At switch on picture tube's heaters glow and EHT increases. No raster and loud hum from speaker.
- Faulty colour.
- No video. Blank raster with brightness control turned up.
- TV switches off occasionally.
- Top part of picture blank, bottom quarter ok.
- No colour and incorrect greyscale.
- After switch on appliance functions perfectly for only 1-2 mins then sound disappears. Brightness is too low. Current consumption is too high.
- No sound or vision.
- No sound or vision with a screaming noise coming from the line output transformer (the BU508 line output transistor will go S/C if the set is left on for more than a few seconds.
- Sound muting switch.
- Reliability of T7355.
- Picture loss. Also loss of sound and/or hiccups. Intermittent fault.
- Picture moves in time to sound from loudspeaker.
- The TV does not switch on.
- Left hand side of screen has a horizontal line. If brightness levels are increased a faint picture appears.
- Low audio.
- Hiccups and/or loss of sound and picture. Intermittent fault.
- Colour is missing, gradually gets better.
- No reaction when using the remote control.
- No display.
- Dead.
- One colour is missing by TXT.
- One of the 3 colours (RGB) missing.
- Teletext lines visible at top of picture.
- Loss of field sync.
- No picture or sound. Intermittent blank raster.
- Line scan is missing.
- No video just a grey raster.
- Stops on standby.
- Vertical stripes on the left by poor aerial signal.
- How to adjust minimum volume.
- No sound or vision.
- Colour fluctuation.
- After being switched on a large picture is visible and then immediately after, BU508 fails.
- Ragged verticals.
- No picture. Sound available.
- Whistling.
- On/Off switch arcs and splutters but set remains dead after a new switch is fitted.
- No switch-on.
- No line scan. (3703 tip from SBR)
- Intermittent hiccup when changing picture (strong changes in beam current).
- Contrast adjustment.
- No picture and no sound. The voltage is present.
- This chassis uses a TDA2577 as sync/field chip.
- The upper edge of the picture is dark.
- No audio.
- No tuning.
- Insufficient height, rolling and lack of contrast.
- Double, hazy picture.
- Unstable tuning; search does not stop on the stations.
- AVR RF adjustment.
- The appliance cannot be operated.
- 125V rail is low.
- Loss of all channels at switch off. OK from standby.
- Line output transistor Tr7562 continuously fails.
- Poor interlace/part picture is blank.
- Weak contrast.
