370625 / SBR [TV 36/37 (34-36) cm picture]

List of fault symptoms:
  • No E/W correction.
  • At switch on black screen followed by green bars in the middle of screen. A few seconds later screen is blue and snowy but no tuner reception. Tuner ok. (extract of circuit diagram attached)

  • Line transformer BUT11 blows after 5 mins.
  • The picture is unstable and moves horizontally.
  • Functions at start up then 5 to 10 mins after there is a flash on the screen and appliance stops completely. General switch is on off.
  • Significant undulation of verticals when changing channels.
  • When changing channels horizontal instability at top of picture during 1 or 2 secs. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Excessive picture flickering which varies according to picture content. (picture attached)
  • Power supply goes into safety mode via secondary 32V.
  • Does not always start up and occasionally begins to flash during operation.
  • 3320 blows instantly. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • CTV functions for 1 hour or 2 days.
  • Becomes dead after 10 minutes in standby. When switched off, it starts up after 20 minutes. OK during reception.
  • Electric arcs at the level of the tube socket and band on each side of the picture. Adjusting the line amplitude has no effect.
  • Sound is normal but the picture type is not decoded.
  • Motorboating noise from speakers. intermittently.
  • No power supply on tuner.
  • Picture drift.
  • After operating for a few mins, channel goes to AUX or 1. Impossible to change channel from control panel or RC.
  • N/S fault. 10cm black band at top and bottom of screen. No loading but voltages are ok.
  • No start-up (intermittently).

  • Too much THT when starting up. Flash of light on the screen.
  • Switches off after a certain time. Control panel display is lit. Fault disappears when unplugging.
  • Line BUT11 fails after a few days.
  • Loss of channels as soon as TV stops.
  • No picture, no sound and loud noise at switch on.
  • Picture is narrowed half way up and pincushion on the picture.
  • Memory loss on channels TVC14/110.
  • No switch on when hot, LED remains off.
  • No synchronisation.

  • On the line circuit, the BUT11A is defective. (picture attached)
  • Contrast changes. Vertical jitter in picture.
  • BUT11A destroy.
  • Dark screen (intermittently).
  • Switches into safety after 5 minutes. E/W problem.

  • No colour.
  • Black bar in middle of screen.
  • Front panel does not work. Sound increases to max at switch on or when changing channels. RC ok.
  • BUT 11A destroyed after operating for one month.
  • Does not display last channel at switch on. Blue screen half of the time at switch off.
  • Frizzy lines on screen when cold.
  • East/west problem. No east/west or line amplitude adjustment.

  • Unstable horizontal amplitude.

  • End stage BU blows at switch on.
  • Value of voltages on CNX.
  • BUT 11 and fuse blow at switch on. Value of resistors 3638 and 3639? (SBR - 370625 information)
  • Horizontal stripe.
  • Vertical green bar on left side of screen after a line fault. (370625 tips)
  • The very high tension reaches the tube. The current reaches the plastic case.
  • TV cuts out after 15 minutes. (picture attached)
  • Sometimes at switch on power supply pulsates very quickly and noisily.
  • Too much EHT. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Dead. after a few minutes.

  • No start-up. No display.
  • Appliance does not work with the remote control. Remote control is correct in the TV position. (370625 tip from SBR)
  • Connection of a loop system to the TV.
  • Blue dominance in LF.
  • No colour. Replace the TDA 3590 appliance. Correct power supply. The sandcastle does 12MS instead of 10MS. Correct width.
  • With a bar pattern, white flash with flyback line at start up then fluttering at the white level, then ok. G2 voltage increases during these flashes. Same on the picture.
  • The line BUT11A blows. The appliance can function from one hour to eight days. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • No tuner reception, snow in picture and no sound. Occasionally some reception.

  • The power supply stops for good when appliance is operating. (370625 tips)
  • Problem in Canal Plus. Becomes B/W with decoder. OK with bright scenes

  • BU508A blows after working continuously for approx one hour.

  • At start up TEA 1039 blows after a week. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • Unstable vertical picture, jumps and lines, then picture becomes ok but goes defective again. (picture attached)
  • No picture, white screen with flyback line. Sound ok.
  • Slight hum in loudspeakers in standby.
  • No scanning. Horizontal white line. Very random problem. Solder joints ok.
  • Switches off by itself (after a few minutes).
  • OK for 2 to 3 hours then switches off.

  • When put into standby a slight hum remains in the speaker. When restarted with the RC, standby light switches off and channel no. does not light up. Continuous hum.
  • Line BU blows at start up. (once out of 3). C2320, 2324, 2325, R3321 have been changed. If start up is ok, appliance functions correctly. (picture attached)
  • Tuning drifts (intermittently).
  • No EHT. Sound ok.
  • General switch on ON: the TV functions then after 3 to 5 mins there is a flash on the screen and everything stops. If the switch on OFF then is goes immediately to ON: dead.
  • Does not start up in AV. Erratic display.
  • Power transformer blows after TV is off for a long time.
  • Motor boating noise in standby. Everything else ok.
  • Vertical lines scrolling up and down the screen. Jagged verticals.
  • Incorrect vertical linearity. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Jumps in the brightness or contrast. Occasionally stops then starts again.
  • CTV remains in U setting on the display, the channels do not go through when opening or closing memory, 1st digit U 2nd digit G is lit up.
  • No video. The screen is white for 30 minutes and the sound is correct.
  • Line transistor (BUT11AF) blows at switch on or after a few mins.
  • Occasionally and at switch on line BUT11A shorts.
  • Rapid pulsation of the brightness, at the same time a horizontal line appears then disappears at the top of the screen.
  • Supply voltage pulsates at channel switchover. Otherwise TV works normally.
  • Picture is too wide, you do not see the M6 signal. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Curling on the verticals. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • The TV functions for 10 days then cuts out. When left to warm up for 10 hours, no fault.
  • At start up the picture is distorted through scanning. (service info for SBR -370625)
  • Power supply fuse and BUT12 blow after 10 secs. Solder joints ok on the heating parts.
  • Very strong moire effect and venetian blind effect. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • PSU pulsates when TV cold producing a broken up sound. Front panel LEDs flash. No EHT. Fault disappears when 13J and 12G are unplugged towards deflector and CRT board. Fault disappears after heating up for 2 mins.
  • TV ok but sound and brightness commands erratic when you go into standby via the RC and when appliance is started up by the RC. Everything returns to normal if you stop with the mains switch.
  • Problem in transistor line 6320 BC337 at bottom of driver.
  • Flyback line on a central band and on the entire height. (370625 tip from SBR)
  • Slightly insufficient horizontal amplitude on right side. Picture lacks 1cm. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Power supply hum on picture and chroma nuance. (with circuit diagram extract)

  • Memory loss on channels TVC14/110.

  • It is impossible to change the regulation. The MP locks.
  • Picture outlines are distorted by streaks. Occurs mainly when cold.

  • Green spot in centre of screen at switch off.

  • Power supply is destroyed if the brightness or the contrast is activated.
  • Vertical unstability when cold.

  • Excess of white in picture, adjustment impossible. Colour and contrast ok.

  • Noisy power supply.

  • When put into standby the sound cuts out but picture is still apparent in black and white but is fairly dark.
  • Stripes on the picture or intermittent black and white picture.
  • Blurred screen with picture shaped like a trapezium. Flashes.
  • Only the TEA 1039 blows after working for a week.

  • No display. Deflection is OK.
  • Picture jitters very fast on some channels. Fault reduces for several minutes after switch on.
  • In scart, Secam or Pal picture coming from a VCR is ok but with a satellite demodulator, it is black and white in Secam but colour in Pal. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • PSU does not start up when cold.
  • Corrective maintenance of the PSU.
  • Intermittent flashes of light.
  • Loud noise on sound at switch on. Picture rainbow colours flicker.
  • Horizontal deflection is faulty. Jagged, unstable vertical lines (scrolling up and down the screen).

  • Insufficient EHT.
  • Sometimes picture vibrates and FBT whistles excessively. (picture attached)
  • Shuts down (after warm-up).

  • Power supply modification (valid for a module with 90 degrees only).

  • Power supply transformer blows after 5 mins.
  • Vertical and horizontal picture instability.

  • BU508 heats up abnormally.

  • Does not switch to standby.
  • No G2.
  • CTV does not function in manual. Impossible to open the memory and to change channels. Ok via RC.

  • When appliance is switched on vertical instability. Picture trembles and 3cm wide coloured lines run down the screen. This disappears when appliance is warm.
  • When changing picture the light reduces then returns to normal with another change of setup.

  • Display flashes. Noise in the sound and darker bars over the entire screen.
  • Severe whistling on sound and picture.
  • Switches to protection mode (after a few minutes).

  • BU blows or heats up too much.

  • Black screen.
  • Occasionally the picture disappears and the power supply pulsates. On the screen, flyback lines pulsate with the power supply.

  • Picture flashes quickly according to picture content. Line output transformer hisses rhythmically to the picture.
  • E/W fault and purple spot at top of screen. (picture attached)
  • When the TV is in standby only the sound is absent. Everything else still functions.
  • Coloured circle in middle of screen and no start up when previously switched off by ON/OFF switch from standby. When switched off by ON/OFF switch colour circle remains for a long time.

  • No start up and motor boating sound.
  • 5322 and R3320 blow. BU508 is always intact.

  • Picture and sound interrupted briefly with strong noise mostly in AV and at random.
  • Switches off by itself (after warm-up).
  • Pumps at switch on. After a few attempts CTV starts up and functions very well then after a few days power supply TDA and BUT 11 blow.

  • E/W picture distortion: Picture is bent inwards as if pincushion problem but with no black appearance.
  • Volume varies.
  • No line scanning. Display ok.
  • The LF amplifier blows periodically (T6502, T6501).

  • Goes into PAL. Ok in test pattern, negative in video mode. Other functions ok.
  • No audio.

  • R3320 smokes.
  • No sound, picture or scanning. The display is ok.
  • Poor sandcastle signal on output of pin 17 of the TDA 2579N5. The signal given by the oscilloscope is the line signal. (370625 tips)

  • Picture appears slowly. Audio OK .
  • 34V fails when connector 17G is connected onto the AST board.

  • Remains blocked in standard I but functions in SECAM when passing via the scart.
  • No picture stability, picture runs through. (picture attached)

  • Power supply goes into safety mode when 34V supplied to pin 2 on AST interface board.
  • Black screen. With brightness, contrast and colour at max levels picture is slightly visible but extremely dim. Cloudy picture, no green. Focus control does not react.
  • Corrective maintenance of the line scanning.
  • Appliance blows from time to time and under shock conditions, but good solder joints.
  • Smoke from R3500 in LF.
  • Start up ok, dead after a few secs.
  • At switch on fuse 1600 (1.6A) blows. (picture attached)
  • Trips when cold. It is not possible to reproduce the fault by cooling the appliance. Functions normally after 10 minutes. (370625 SBR repair tip)
  • Loss of channel memory.
  • The picture is extremely distorted and unstable. Incorrect video.
  • No red at output of TDA3562. After replacement the same. Ok in PSU. Blue and green normal.
  • Excessive horizontal size.

  • BU 508 goes S/C in time base after a few hours. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • No more video. Scanning and sound are correct but there is a black screen. (with circuit diagram extract)

  • Strong moire with colour saturation.
  • It takes 15-30 secs or even more for the picture to appear. Display lights up.
  • Line transistor BUT11 6322 blows, almost immediate S/C. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

  • Resistor 3320 burnt, no visible S/C.

  • Tube cuts out with sparks on the pins of the RGB amplifier board. Visible arcs going into the ground.

  • Vertical line tearing.
  • Flyback raster at switch on on the whole of the screen then occasionally disappears and comes back again before disappearing again after approx 20 secs.
