6636 / SBR [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for 6636 / SBR.
List of fault symptoms:
- No vertical deflection. intermittently. (6636 tips)
- No tuning.
- Band 4 and 5 does not function.
- When switching on the TV is ok. After a few minutes when adjusting the saturation it moves frequency.
- No function, the appliance gurgles.
- Blown chopper. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Channel drift.
- No or poor audio. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Horizontal size varies. Knock sensitive.
- The picture lightens up, the appliance gurgles due to a high beam current. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Dark picture. intermittently.
- Pincushion distortion.
- Channel selector V311 no longer available, will be V317.
- Picture and sound have rhythmical interference, even without the station, tuning voltage varies.
- Vertical interference lines in all of the picture during UHF and VHF. No flyback lines. (SBR - 6636 information)
- Clock TXT decoder adjustment without measurement equipment.
- Lower side of picture is black.

- Searches for channels continuously.
- Lines in the picture caused by loose contacts on the module contact plug. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Does not change channels. Audio and picture OK .
- Crooked horizontal deflection at the top and bottom of the picture (looks like op east/west fault). (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Screen turns bright. Hiccups. Black, horizontal line in the picture. (service info for SBR -6636)
- No picture. No sound. Screen is grey. Occasionally sync is poor.
- Shuts down. after a while.
- No picture. Switches off by itself.
- The indication LEDs do not come on.
- Blocks.
- The picture darkens when the colour is turned up.
- +12V supply adjustment.
- Modification to be carried out on the chroma module in the event of replacing the IC TDA2523 with the TDA2525.
- Horizontal ripple lines. Everything is ok after dismounting the AFC plug on U535.

- Greyscale adjustment.

- Varicap voltage adjustment.
- All functions are distorted during operation.
- HF AGC adjustment.

- Channels cannot be switched over also there are no analogous functions.

- One colour missing.

- Vertical collapse.
- White lines in the middle of the picture and no sound.

- Touch controls do not function.
- Every few hours appliance independently switches on and off for a short time.

- Horizontal sync adjustment.
- The focus unit is replaced.
- No audio (intermittently).
- Auxiliary oscillator adjustment.
- The appliance does not identify the programmes.
- Picture jitters. at top.
- The upper part of the picture pulls up.
- Green picture. Shuts down.

- No picture, sound is present, flashing occurs when switching off. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- TV has poor luminosity and every now and then the picture shrinks at the centre forming a horizontal thin line.
- Does not tune to optimum. Station is tuned too sharply.
- Picture linearity is faulty, the east/ west correction distorts occasionally. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Impossible to adjust the East/West module (U555). The raster remains distorted (narrow) in the lower part of the screen while the top part is wide. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Horizontal white line. Audio OK .
- Barrel shaped picture.

- Does not function with manual operation but does function with remote control.

- General information.
- Vertical deflection fault. Pincushion distortion. Horizontal line on picture.

- Replacing TDA2523 with TDA2525.
- +145V supply voltage adjustment.
- No switching between UHF and VHF. Switching voltage is 10V on both at the same time.
- Volume varies.

- Fuse 562 is defective. After replacing it the appliance functions.
- 5.5MHz blanking circuit adjustment.

- Dynamic convergence adjustment.

- Inverted picture.
- The TV does not switch on from the switch but only from the remote control.
- The picture is covered by horizontal black stripes.
- The raster is egg shaped.
- The chroma is next to the rasters, even if the colour fails.
- R.G.B. amplifiers.
- The picture turns a glaring red, green, blue, it may occur only after some time
- Picture turns red, green or blue with flyback lines.
- Vertical sync adjustment.

- Disturbance lines and shaky picture.
- Sound module IC TDA2610Q no longer available.
- Frame module without IC TDA2780 (not enough in supply).
- Connection of a loop system to the TV.

- Red smear on picture.
- VCR time constant: 26 C 668.

- Picture gets lighter, flyback lines, then appliance fails (even after a short playing time).
- The picture turns dark after some colour occasionally disappears.
- Uniform faded picture.

- EHT (excessive).
- The appliance makes a light gurgling sound, occurs occasionally after some time.

- The appliance cannot be tuned (remains blocked on one channel).

- Cycles on/off.
- The remote control does not function. The green LED lights up irregularly.
- Picture turns bright red, green or blue, flyback lines and then fails.
- No memory.

- Picture is upside down.
- Line output transistor fails repeatedly.

- Tuning drifts.

- After switching the appliance on, it is not tuned. After switching to another channel, the tuning is o.k. again.
- Burst keying-out pulse adjustment.
- After working for a few hours, loss of memory and no tuning seach. (SBR - 6636 information)

- Focus potentiometer.
- High peeping sound, the television functions properly otherwise, the line transformer is ok. (picture attached)

- Rolled up picture in the bottom part of the screen.
- 140V = 70-80V. Set comes on after a while. (6636 SBR repair tip)
- Bright picture with retrace lines first, then picture cuts out.

- Horizontal streaks across picture.
- The connected video recorder produces a freeze frame that shakes and jumps.
