6642 / SBR [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for 6642 / SBR.
List of fault symptoms:
- TV has poor luminosity and every now and then the picture shrinks at the centre forming a horizontal thin line.
- No colour. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- The appliance cannot be tuned (remains blocked on one channel).
- Dark picture. intermittently.
- When switching on the TV is ok. After a few minutes when adjusting the saturation it moves frequency.
- Focus potentiometer. (service info for SBR -6642)

- The appliance gurgles with high voltage and sound. No picture.
- Tuning drifts. (6642 tip from SBR)
- Colour is faulty, flyback lines and smoke from R610. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Horizontal lines.
- After switching the appliance on, it is not tuned. After switching to another channel, the tuning is o.k. again.
- Vertical deflection fault. Pincushion distortion. Horizontal line on picture.
- Touch controls do not function.
- The picture is defective, horizontal lines. (picture attached)
- The picture darkens when the colour is turned up.
- Sound module IC TDA2610Q no longer available.

- The picture is distorted and folds over at the bottom. (with circuit diagram extract)
- +145V supply voltage adjustment.
- Overvoltage protection adjustment.
- No picture and no sound - only a little noise in the sound. The channels cannot be tuned. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Tuning is faulty, snow on UHF, no band III, the fault occurs after spraying. (picture attached)
- Colour purity adjustment.
- Blocks.

- Burst keying-out pulse adjustment.

- No programming. Dark screen.
- Horizontal ripple lines. Everything is ok after dismounting the AFC plug on U535.
- Slight east/west problem (with circuit diagram extract)
- Standardised chroma module.
- White lines in the middle of the picture and no sound.

- The upper part of the picture pulls up.

- Every few hours appliance independently switches on and off for a short time.

- Red smear on picture.
- Audio is set to maximum. The display control does not function. (picture attached)
- No switching between UHF and VHF. Switching voltage is 10V on both at the same time.
- Uniform faded picture.

- The raster is egg shaped.
- Horizontal white line. Audio OK .
- White screen.
- Connection of a loop system to the TV.
- Vertical collapse.
- After switching to TXT, only TXT mode is displayed but no TXT appears. (6642 SBR repair tip)

- No picture, sound is present, flashing occurs when switching off. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Bright picture with retrace lines first, then picture cuts out.
- Band 4 and 5 does not function.
- The picture turns a glaring red, green, blue, it may occur only after some time
- Blue picture. after a while. Switches off by itself.

- Flyback lines.
- Tripping. at start-up.
- Shuts down. after a while.
- 5.5MHz blanking circuit adjustment.
- No vertical deflection. intermittently.

- Change of mains switch order number.

- Screen turns bright. Appliance gulps.

- Rolled up picture in the bottom part of the screen.

- No HT, loss of display. Power supply OK.
- No audio (intermittently).
- Lines in the picture caused by loose contacts on the module contact plug. (picture attached)

- R.G.B. amplifiers.
- Burnt high voltage cable at the picture tube. (picture attached)
- Screen turns bright. Hiccups. Black, horizontal line in the picture.

- TV does not switch on; there is only the M1 voltage = 285V. (with circuit diagram extract)
- The chroma is next to the rasters, even if the colour fails.
- Wavy lines are visible vertically. (SBR - 6642 information)

- Tip buttons do not work.
- No memory.
- Wow and flutter. Knock sensitive.

- Dynamic convergence adjustment.

- Clock TXT decoder adjustment without measurement equipment.
- Lower side of picture is black.
- The sound varies: soft and loud.

- Line output transistor fails repeatedly.
- Barrel shaped picture.
- East-west amplitude cannot be controlled easily. The picture's width varies when the contrast is changed. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- 4.43MHz trap adjustment - Luminance circuit.

- When search is switched on, the appliance no longer stops and the screen darkens. (picture attached)
- Channel selector V311 no longer available, will be V317. (service info for SBR -6642)
- The appliance makes a light gurgling sound, occurs occasionally after some time.

- 140V = 70-80V. Set comes on after a while.

- Frame module without IC TDA2780 (not enough in supply).

- The TV does not switch on from the switch but only from the remote control.

- Volume varies.
- In display only even nos light up.
- Greyscale adjustment.
- Disturbance lines and shaky picture.

- Fuse 562 is defective. After replacing it the appliance functions.
- Replacing TDA2523 with TDA2525. (6642 tip from SBR)
- PSU pulsates. (picture attached)
- HF AGC adjustment.
- No tuning. only on certain channels.

- Vertical interference lines in all of the picture during UHF and VHF. No flyback lines.

- One colour missing.
- No function, the appliance gurgles.
- The indication LEDs do not come on.

- Picture and sound have rhythmical interference, even without the station, tuning voltage varies.
- +12V supply adjustment.
- Channel drift.
- Does not function with manual operation but does function with remote control.
- All functions are distorted during operation. (6642 tips)
- Is occasionally intermittent.
- Green picture. Shuts down.

- Picture is pinched in in the middle. (picture attached)
- The picture distorts - appears overcontrolled. The picture is a little too small. (part of circuit diagram displayed)

- The raster becomes dark and red.
- RC and control panel operation do not function (only 1 channel).

- General information.
- With light picture contents the mains gurgles once.

- The appliance does not identify the programmes.
- Modification to be carried out on the chroma module in the event of replacing the IC TDA2523 with the TDA2525.

- The remote control does not function. The green LED lights up irregularly.
