List of fault symptoms:
- Colour appears in horizontal stripes. In some bars colour OK, in others no colour.
- Shaky picture at switch on. Picture OK after 5 mins.
- Vertical deflection incorrect. Approx. 10cm black stripe at upper picture edge.
- Line tearing. Lines are not synchronised intermittently.
- No colour. intermittently.
- Dark horizontal stripes in picture, which become stronger after warm-up.
- Vertical jitter.
- Stripes in picture.
- Faulty VCR playback.

- No picture.
- Power supply goes defective after a few days.

- Does not recognise transmissions in SECAM. Functions well in PAL. Connected to a SECAM VCR via scart socket, cassettes are read correctly.

- Line tearing and the top 5 cm of the picture is folded over; unclear picture in general. When warming up tuner with hot air picture becomes normal.
- Poor vertical synchronisation. when cold.
- Horizontal collapse.
- Enter service mode.
- All channels ok except 1. Unstable picture as if sync problem then goes into PAL.
- Squealing from PSU. when cold.
- Whistling. at start-up. Horizontal line. after a while. (SCHAUBLORENZ - 54306901 information)
- Line transformer whistling. Line BU has been changed without any effect. Still the same when you lift the BU collector, 150V otherwise voltage decreases to 40V.
- No picture. when cold.
- Picture gets darker after approx 3-4 mins (a faint picture remains). Beam current is very low.
- For a short time after switching on the line foldover and picture is distorted.
- Thin black lines at bottom of raster.
- Line tearing in the first few minutes after switch on. No reaction to freezer spray. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Crackling audio. intermittently.
- No sound by mono transmissions or too low. OK in STEREO.
- Crackling audio. at switch-off.
- Flyback lines. on upper half screen. (54306901 tips)
- No reception.
- After switching from band 1 or 4 to band 3 there is no reception from band 3. Absolutely no reception on band 3 after a short period.
- Picture is dark and only black and white. No colour in SECAM or PAL. Flyback raster visible as well as TXT lines.
- Black smears on the variable picture.
- Will not switch on, PSU trips briefly, then protective switching is active.
- No audio.
- Horizontal smearing. Split image.
- PSU transistor 508A fails.
- When TV started up, transistor (S2000AF) instantly burn out.
- Procedure to lock TV in standard L.
- No picture. No sound. When switched on via power switch functions accidentally.
- Horizontal and vertical unstable, mostly when cold.

- No or poor synchronisation. Poor audio. when cold.
- At high frequency areas the station goes out of tune (ie SAT1, channel 58).
- CTV switches to PAL mode on channel 25 (TF1), no matter which channel has been selected. No problems on channels 22, 28, 30 and 33.
- No start-up. Protection mode activated.
- Line output transistor fails at start-up.

- Trips instantaneously.
- No sound and a blank raster, the channel display shows rubbish and appliance doesn't respond to remote control commands.
