56K545 / SIERRA [TV]

List of fault symptoms:
  • Picture and sound have rhythmical interference, even without the station, tuning voltage varies.

  • Wine glass shaped picture.
  • No horizontal hold.
  • Width decreases after a few minutes.
  • Blank raster with flyback lines.
  • Dark picture, weak colours.
  • East/west fault.

  • No vertical deflection.
  • Blows F601.
  • Teletext lines on edge of raster (top few lines).
  • Horizontal sync dropout.
  • Occasionally no sound. Sound is too low.
  • Only no. 1 appears on screen, no picture. Only background noise in sound.
  • No or small frame (voltage reading seems normal).
  • Intermittent pincushion distortion.
  • No sync and no sound. OK on empty channel.
  • Starts up for a short time, then fails. (service info for SIERRA -56K545)
  • Clatters, crackles, is noisy and the volume control is blocked. (56K545 tips)
  • No E/W, reduced width.
  • Only snow noise is present, no channel number indication.
  • Replacement of the IC SAF1031P with SAF1039P.
  • Repeated power supply failure.
  • Convergence is faulty. (SIERRA - 56K545 information)
  • Reduced vertical and horizontal size.
  • White horizontal stripes.
  • Blue raster, no picture.
  • E/W fault.
  • No picture. Sound ok. Contrast is minimal and cannot be adjusted.
  • Problem of lines on the picture like noise in the picture.
  • VCR time constants: 26 C 568.
  • Outer lines cannot be straightened.
  • AFT pulls when switch engaged.
  • Intermittent red, green faces.

  • No function. No hiccuping.
  • Channels drifting, high band.
  • Franjas.
  • TXT lines are visible in the upper part of the picture. Approx 3cm away from the upper edge of the picture

  • Width, east-west correction and the trapezodal pot(s) do not function.
  • Vertical linearity fault. Cramp at bottom of picture.
  • Rolling when contrast or brightness varied.
  • Blown chopper.
  • Starts with 12, all channels are noisy.
  • Picture width is too low, adjustment regulators do not react.
  • Red, green or blue picture.
  • Horizontal lines.
  • Raster dented on the side.
  • Gulps occasionally with a large beam current.
  • Frame collapse at switch on.
  • The picture is blurry and then disappears.
  • Lines above in the picture.
  • Switches off after aprrox. 1 min.
  • Luminance lines in the picture, the left hand side is darker.
  • Low HT.
  • Hiccuping.
  • North/south correction does not function.
  • No start-up (intermittently).
  • Gulps at switch off.

  • The power supply jumps. The power supply unit is correct.
  • Rolling, no contrast and excessively bright picture.
  • Channel selector V311 no longer available, will be V317.
  • Afterglow fleck at switch off.
  • Noise in picture.
  • Safety test after repair.
  • Power supply repair method.
  • Vertical lines in the blank picture operation.
  • Low contrast.
  • Almost total vertical collapse.
  • Colour flickers until appliance has warmed up. Stabilizes after a while.
  • No sound, dark picture (colour or R/C functions may not work).
  • Checking the PSU.
  • New high voltage tripler.

  • No contrast.
  • The appliance breaks down after 1 min. A transformer or coil may be defective.
  • No colour (horizontal shift).
  • No contrast control.
  • No audio.
  • K9/K11 band switch.
  • Vertical line in the middle of screen.
  • Difficulty with grey scale.
  • Horizontal shift, no colour.
  • No function, there may be a gurgling sound.
  • Dead.
  • Intermittent. Gurgles or vertical lines are present.
  • Goes into safety mode.
