EU68 / TEAC [TV 70-74 (66-70) cm picture]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for EU68 / TEAC.
List of fault symptoms:
- Power supply cuts out.
- Reduced horizontal size. Stripes in picture. on the left.
- Dead. Tripping audio via left speaker.
- No CRT heater operation.
- Noisy picture. Only a blue square. Sound OK.
- Top half of picture is black. Flyback lines in the middle. Picture is intermittently OK.
- Q601(BU2508AF) blows after a few minutes.
- BU2508AF fails after a few seconds.
- LED flashes 2-3 times green and then switches back to standby.
- Pulsating picture. Jagged verticals. Picture size varies.
- Excessive vertical and horizontal size.
- White dashes on picture when cold.
- Horizontal line.
- Line output transistor fails repeatedly. (service info for TEAC -EU68)
- No PSU start up.
- Disable child lock.
- No CRT heaters.
- Oversized picture. Picture rolls over at upper picture edge when TXT is called up. Only blue picture via AV. (EU68 tips)
- Picture is too bright and blurred sporadically. Error occurs when CRT board is tapped.
- No tube heaters.
- Option codes.
- Switches to standby. intermittently. LED flickers .
- D605 S/C immediately.
- Reduced horizontal size. intermittently. (EU68 tip from TEAC)
- D606 overheats. (service info for TEAC -EU68)
- Picture brightness fluctuates or becomes increasingly darker, may intermittently be completely black.
- No picture. Coloured lines.
- PSU and D800 (BA159) blown.
- Stuck in standby. intermittently. No RC functions. No front panel function. after start-up.
- Dead. Standby LED flashes .
- Horizontal bars run through picture.
- No RC after some time, later ok again. OSD displays tear after some time.
- Dead. PSU ticking.
- Insufficient E/W defelction, Error decreases when warming up.
- Clicking noise. via speakers (intermittently).
- E/W fault. Excessive horizontal size.
- No sound. Cannot call up installation menu.
- No picture. No EHT. Audio OK.
- Picture too wide. Height is normal. E/W not ok. Slight bowing in the TXT.
- No function, mains BU fails repeatedly.
- No or intermittent picture. Dark picture.
- Dark picture. after a while.
- Buzzing noise from speakers when first turned on. Sometimes picture interference too.
- Squealing from PSU. at start-up.
- Lines in picture.
- No start-up from standby. LED blinks . Arcing.
- Tripping. intermittently.
- Switches to standby. Standby LED flashes .
- No or intermittent start-up. Snow in picture. No RC functions.
- No TXT. No OSD.
- No start-up from standby.
- Enter service mode.
- Standby OK. When switched on, the appliance tries to start. Cuts up and LED alternates green-red.
- No picture. Only bright glimmer.
- Tripping. Red LED blinks.
- Ticking noise.
- No start up. Standby LED does not light up. Faint ticking from the loudspeakers.
- Vertical line.
- No start-up. LED blinks .
- Stuck in standby. Faint ticking noise audible, which changes frequency when keys are pressed.
- PSU pumps at start-up.
- Audio disappears. 5min timer appears in OSD, then counts down and switches off. Fault occurs intermittently. (EU68 tip from TEAC)
- Starts up from standby. LED goes green. Intermittent or no picture.
- No horizontal synchronisation. Colour fault.
- ATP is performed but no channel stored. All program positions are on channel 5. If channel is input manually, fine tuning drifts off tune.
- Geometry fault.
- No S correction. (TEAC - EU68 information)
- Memory loss. (EU68 tips)
- White horizontal stripes in picture.
- Reduced vertical size. Excessive horizontal size. No picture. intermittently.
- Menu is only in English. Cannot change values in service mode. Picture is in 16/9 format.
- Blows D808 in secondary PSU when bringing set out of standby. Squealing from PSU at switch-on.
- Pincushion distortion. Picture too big.
- No picture. TXT OK .
- Ticking noise. LED blinks .
- No sound menu in main menu and no sound.
- No E/W correction. Picture too big.
- Picture too small. after a few minutes.
- Poor picture. Flyback lines.
- Tripping. in standby. (EU68 tip from TEAC)
- Shuts down, after a while. Coloured spots remain on screen.
- Power supply fault.
- Only half a picture, top is black. Picture has folded over.
- Colour disappears after approx. 20 sec or no colour at switch on.
- No vertical deflection.
- Squealing noise. intermittently.
- +UB control range is incorrect. +UB cannot be adjusted to minimum 155V.
- Starts up immediately in protective switching. (Pumps.)
- Chirping.
- No picture. Audio OK .
- Dark picture.
- No start-up. intermittently.
- Stretched picture.
- Control LED flickers only slightly red, othewise no function.
- Switches after start up from standby to green and goes back to standby.
- Vertical collapse.
- Primary of PSU pulsating.
- PSU switches on only if the value of the trimmer resistor is increased to VR800.
- Shuts down. after start-up.
- Q801 is defective. (EU68 tips)
- Small corrugations and no audio after start-up. After warm-up there is gurgling audio. Picture and audio OK after a while.
- R639 (10K) burns.
- Tripping.
- Beeping sound in STANDBY mode from power supply.
- Stuck in standby.
- Insufficient picture height, picture too wide. Delayed operation. No picture during AV, only display.
- Red standby LED is lit, red changes to green during start via RC. Audible start up attempts.
- Remains in standby, LED becomes slightly darker after switch on (1sec) then brighter again. (TEAC - EU68 information)
- No TXT.
- Cannot switch to DK mode via main menu.
- Appliance does not switch on, no LED display, a constant click from PSU.
- PSU pulsates. at start-up.
- Reduced vertical and horizontal size.
- Dead. LED lit. .
- Black line in top and bottom of screen in 16:9 mode.
- No start-up. Standby LED becomes green for a second, then reverts to standby.
- Popping noise from speakers and squeak from power supply twice a second. Standby LED does not lit.
- Switches to standby. LED is red .
- No start-up.
- No HV.
- Trips.
- Mains fuse fails immediately after start-up.
- Picture too small.
- No audio. Popping noise from speakers. No audio options in menu.
- PSU IC800 is defective.
- Geometry settings. (service info for TEAC -EU68)
- PSU faulty. (EU68 TEAC repair tip)
- No front panel function.
- EEPROM settings.
- E/W fault.
- PSU does not start. LED is off. Low ticking.
- Dead. Standby LED lit .
- Poor vertical linearity. Vertical foldover at bottom.
- No RC functions.
- Dark picture (intermittently).
- Picture appears slowly. Audio OK .
- No switch on, red LED lit, then green LED flickers.
- No start-up. LED is green.
- No audio. No picture.
- No line drive.
- Reduced vertical and horizontal size. No STEREO.
- Tripping. Standby LED lit .
- PSU pulsates. (EU68 tips)
- Tries to start up. LED is green for an instant then becomes red again.
- Picture is folded over from the top and approx 5 cm are missing from upper picture edge.
- No function. Standby LED flashes. Start up attempts audible from the PSU.
With help of this list a solution is found often when TEAC EU68 fails.
