3850VCR / TEC [Video recorder - VHS HiFi]

The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers supplies the following faults for 3850VCR / TEC.

List of fault symptoms:
  • The capstan motor occasionally runs at high speed during play. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • The tape is not reeled up on the right hand reel tape.
  • Two segments light up simultaneously in programme indication. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
  • Appliance does not accept any cassettes. (3850VCR tips)
  • Cassette can only be inserted by pressing standby key. Cassette compartment is also lowered in this way without a tape. All other functions OK.
  • No display or control. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • No functions. (picture attached)
  • No function or display. No 12V on pin 1 of P804, or on pin 6 pf P802. All suspicious components seem OK. Occasionally all functions OK when plug is put in socket. No function again when this is repeated.
  • Display does not light up. Cassette is not accepted.
  • No function, the capstan keeps turning.
  • The upper edge of the picture is distorted during own recording. (3850VCR tips)
  • Band changing does not function in all of the programmes. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
  • No start-up. (with circuit diagram extract)
  • Appliance does not carry out any function (no display, no channel display and cannot be switched on). (extract of circuit diagram attached)
  • Interference in picture in switching function.
  • Cassette is not accepted. Indication LED lights up continuously even if no cassette is inserted. Appliance functions perfectly when lacing up manually.
  • The appliance has no picture, looks as if the video head is defective. (Appliance stops after a few sec).
  • No picture.
  • Immediately starts to REC after insertion of cassette. Can only be stopped with power off. No function when cassette is inserted in Erase. Command functions are blocked.
  • The appliance does not lace up.
  • Does not record a picture, but PB is ok
  • No picture (in viewfinder). (picture attached)
  • Cassette is not accepted. Indication LED is lit even when no tape is present. Functions OK when loaded manually.
