TX2034 / TEXET [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for TX2034 / TEXET.
List of fault symptoms:
- Video is missing and raster blank.
- After approx fifteen minutes, screen would go bright blue with flyback lines, then go off completely.
- Blank silent raster.

- No brightness.

- Does not switch to TXT.

- No sound. No sync.
- Standby light on, high pitched screaming noise. HT low at approx 47v instead of 121v or 119v depending on screen size. (picture attached)

- A line of text intermittently appears half an inch from the top.

- Excessive brightness with flyback lines.
- Intermittent flashes of colour.
- The video text does not function,the picture disappears.

- No raster.

- The picture is intermittent, the tuning goes off. (picture attached)
- No sound or vision. Channel display functions normally. Tube heaters come on.
- Signals are missing.

- No EHT and intermittent no picture from cold.
- Line output transistor swings A1 voltage after being replaced.
- Dead. No line drive. PSU makes a noise.
- No memory.
- Does not start up, 300V present in the PSU. No s/c in the secondary. In the primary the voltages and resistors are correct as are also the transistors. No signal on the base of the power supply BU and no voltage. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Lack of width
- Cannot switch on.
- No function, or the remote control does not work. (with circuit diagram extract)

- Set dead with R551 in feed to the line output stage is o/c. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Burst of life at switch on the appliance goes into protection mode.

- No colour, black lines and the TXT is no longer correct.
- Loss of memory.

- Overloaded line output stage.

- IC1203 resets repeatedly.
- Horizontal hold is missing. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- No volume, brightness ie cannot be adjusted. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- No picture. No sound. Display shows "00".
- No picture. Sound is normal. Either permanent or intermittent.
- There are lines in the picture, the TXT disappears or there are flash back lines and stops at TXT.

- The storage disappears.
- After fitting memory modification kit (XFMK 606001) the appliance will sometimes come on with 'standby' LED and one 'Bal' LED illuminated (when switched on from cold). (+ extract of circuit diagram)

- Remains in TXT or fails.

- No sync. No sound.
- Picture turns green when sound turned up.

- Excessive brightness.

- After switch on sometimes there is snow and no sound. No display. In fault conditions voltages present on the storage target.

TXT.

- Channel and volume change at random. (picture attached)

- Sawtooth disortion in TT. Poor synchronisation.
- No colour.

- Synchronisation is missing or weak.

- Appliance is dead, display lights up.

- Struggles to switch on and only manages to do so after many attempts.

- The appliance starts scanning spontaneously, runs across the stations but does not loose the storage. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- White picture with flyback lines.
- Vertical wavy picture. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Appliance is dead, when switched on there is no sound. (picture attached)
- Raster is blank, sound missing or noisy. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Line pairing effect, whistling noise from back of TV. Pitch varies with contrast/brightness. (with circuit diagram extract)

- When appliance is cold, rattling sound from the power supply trafo and thin horizontal lines in the picture. When appliance warm, then the rattling sound changes to a whistling sound, which disappears later and the thin lines also.
- No heaters. No picture. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Purity error or 'Doming'. Cause: Scan coils are not seated firmly against 'Bell' of CRT (30AX CRT).
- Intermittent start up in standby.
- Intermittent tuning and no search. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Severely defocused and overbright picture. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Parts of the screen on the top or bottom are slightly shaded (looks like parity error). (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Appliance comes on in standby permanently or intermittently when mains switch on the appliance is used. (extract of circuit diagram attached)

- Set comes on for a brief time.

- White image.
