6053 / ULTRA [TV]
The EURAS repair tip database for professional technicians and service engineers
supplies the following faults for 6053 / ULTRA.
List of fault symptoms:
- Poor vertical linearity.
- Zig Zag verticals.
- White stripes on the top of picture, which spin. After approx. 5 seconds picture becomes dark.
- No picture, no sound. No stations are found during station search. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Does not change channels.
- No picture on lower half of screen. Top half picture OK.
- No horizontal synchronisation.
- Powers up with burning smell, then dead. Mains ON/OFF switch inoperative. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Dark picture. after a while.
- Colour fault.
- Goes back to standby after approx. 5 minutes and then can be switched on again via the remote control. After a while the appliance switches off again and the situation repeats. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Failure to start up. Standby LED flashes at about 1Hz when appliance switched on at mains. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Unsteady frame scan, lines may be present.
- Height drifts.
- No start-up. Standby LED flashes .
- Picture is dim and faint.
- Picture collapsed to a 5 cm horizontal line in picture centre. (6053 tip from ULTRA)
- Horizontal collapse. (picture attached)
- No light during max. contrast and brightness. Faint picture. Picture present via scart. (picture attached)
- Visible television picture in TXT (display shows lines).
- Image position adjusts itself vertically wrong.
- Occasionally loud cracking and noise in the sound, also when the volume is turned down.
- Slow start-up.
- The top half of the picture is rainbow coloured and cannot be adjusted.
- No vertical deflection.
- No audio.
- Focus problems.

- Single straight line 2 inches from top of screen.
- Occasionally picture becomes very narrow (East-West). (with circuit diagram extract)
- After switching over station has disappeared. After switching off and on again station returns.
- No channels visible. Dark picture, without colour. AV picture visible, without colour, dark and intermittently only picture noise.
- Pulsates 2-3 times and switches off.
- Dead or trips.
- Bright line in the lower part of the picture. (service info for ULTRA -6053)
- Popping noise at switch on.
- White screen. Flyback lines.
- After few mins of starting up, only half picture at bottom of screen. PSU chirps.

- Dancing white horizontal lines on a stripe which is approx 10cm wide. Dark picture. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Blue picture. Flyback lines. No display. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Sound fails.
- Distorted field linearity. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Picture interference plus noise on sound.
- All settings (colour/sound etc.) set to 0.
- Random clicks with Nicam sound.
- No RC functions.
- Starts up three times then switches off. Protection mode activated. (with circuit diagram extract)
- After some time, switches off and then sometimes switches on again by itself. Dragging sound. Slight frame cramping. (extract of circuit diagram attached)
- Power supply end stage transistor TP24 (S2000AF) fails after approx 15 mins. (+ extract of circuit diagram) (6053 tips)
- Picture and sound are missing, raster ok.
- Picture is overmodulated when picture content is bright. Picture flickers intermittently black.
- Line output transistor fails repeatedly.
- Jagged picture vertically.
- Cracks, crackling or sizzling, possibly with fine white lines. (6053 ULTRA repair tip)
- Picture visible in 1" strip at left hand side of screen, rest blanked.
- Horizontal linearity fault.
- No luminance but colour is present. No signal on TR47, but 12V is present. (picture attached)
- E/W fault.
- Snow in picture. intermittently. (part of circuit diagram displayed)
- Erratic convergence values in the top third of the picture.
- With low brightness and contrast, the UHF range is affected by distortion up to channel 28. At maximum brightness, the picture is ok. (part of circuit diagram displayed) (6053 tip from ULTRA)
- No OSD. No TXT.
- Loud noise or crackling in the speaker during stereo transmissions.
- Lines flash on picture, may not affect all channels.
- Appliance switches briefly on three times and switches to protection mode.
- No TXT.

- Only 7 to 10 raster lines in centre of picture. Lines are moving and are not close together (extract of circuit diagram attached) (6053 tips)
- No tuning. in UHF. VHF OK . (picture attached)

- Picture is disturbed. Vertical lines are wavy. Picture improves when appliance is warm.
- Power supply pulsates 3 times, then no further function.
- Vertical roll.
- Picture is shifted. Linearity fault.

- Dark and colourless AV picture. Occasionally only interference visible. No channel display. (extract of circuit diagram attached)

- Image compressed horizontally. Insufficient width approx 1cm on left and right of screen.
- Volume fault.

- Battery dead.

- Blank screen (no field scan) and smell of overheating. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- Flashing "PS" in display in standby. Switches off after a short while. (picture attached)
- Intermittently appliance switches off, one or two times per day. (picture attached)

- No picture and no sound. The mains relay does not pull in.

- Dark picture without colour. AV picture visible, without colour, dark and only intermittently visible picture noise.
- Noise bars.
- Picture appears only after several restarts or after operating picture search.
- Intermittent serrated vertical edges in picture.

- Drop out in picture.
- The PSU pulsates very faintly three times a second. Power processor, quartz, LOPT and BUs have already been replaced unsuccessfully. Mains transformer and flyback transformer have been completely resoldered.
- Noise in audio. at low volume.

- Enter service mode.
- No HV.
- Trapezoid picture.
- No synchronisation.
- Vertical fault.
- Flickering, flaring, brightness and contrast changes in picture or white with flyback lines.
- No start-up from standby. PSU ticking. at start-up. (picture attached)
- Intermittently image and sound disappear. Then only dark flickering. knocking makes screen completely dark. Image conitues appearing if brightness key is pressed. Black/ white only. Image and sound normal again, also if key COLOUR is pressed.
- Moire pattern.
- Switches off or cannot be started up.
- No function. Faint whistle.
- No picture. Audio OK .
- No blue in the scale of colours. Grey wedge OK. A picture recorded via scart on an external appliance is in order. (picture attached) (6053 tips)
- No reception. in VHF.
- Bright picture. Stripes in picture.
- Pulsates 2 up to 3 times, otherwise no function.
- Line tearing.
- Switches to protection mode. at start-up.
- Intermittent white, horizontal line in the middle of the picture, otherwise dark.
- During monochrome transmissions, colour breaks through.
- Channels cannot be switched over. Channel display stops on channel 5.
- Wide dark stripes on left side of picture.
- Versucht 3 times to start up, then remains off.
- Switch on condition of the primary power supply.

- Horizontal picture amplitude cannot be adjusted. E/W is defective.
- Very short, faint crackle at switch on from standby
- No picture. No audio. (+ extract of circuit diagram)
- When the appliance has been on for approx. 10 minutes it quits and then comes on again on channel 1. This reoccurs in quick succession and then stays off completely after the third time. (+ extract of circuit diagram)

- No colour.
- No new channels can be adjusted, no reception but old channels however are stored.
- Dead, low whistling.
- Does not switch to standby.
- Horizontal stripes at 3-4cm distance. Dark picture. Loud chirping in line transformer.
- Switches on 3x for a short time, then goes to protective circuit.
- Occasionally the East/West scanning fails.
- No audio (intermittently).
- Switches off after about 30 mins. If restarted immediately will function for a short time then switches off again.
- Ballooning effect.

- No audio. intermittently. Noise in audio. Knock sensitive.
- Immediate S/C. Brief HT, then standby. (picture attached)
- No channel search and no band switching possible.
- Picture too dark. Blooming with full contrast.
- Dark picture. on upper half screen. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Blurred picture with lines and hardly visible. Very dark.
- No vertical deflection. when cold. (with circuit diagram extract)
- Horizontal output stage transistor fails repeatedly after few days/weeks without any apparent reason.
- No E/W correction.
- Pincushion distortion.
- Contrast problems.

- The stations cannot be memorized.
- Speaker problems.
- Brightness fault.
- Colour flickers, Picture I ok, picture III cannot be adjusted. (extract of circuit diagram attached)

- No or intermittent start-up. Switches off by itself. after a few seconds.

- One colour is missing or excessive.

- Tuning drifts, patterning.

- No start-up (intermittently).
